Silent mode mutes all of Readable’s speech without changing any of your other settings — useful in a quiet room, a meeting, or when you only want Readable’s visual and writing tools.

Turn Silent mode on or off in any of these ways:

  • Press ⌥ Option+⌘ Command+S.
  • Right-click the Readable icon in the menu bar and choose Mute (Silent mode). While Silent mode is on, the item reads Unmute (Silent mode is on).
  • Tick Silent mode (disable all TTS) on the Speech tab of Settings.
