Click the Readable Web icon in your browser toolbar to open the floating Readable Web toolbar. If the icon is not visible, see Installing & Pinning.

The toolbar has four buttons. Click a speak mode button to set how much text is spoken when you hover over a page.

Readable Web Speak Word button icon
Speak Word

Speaks the single word under the mouse pointer. Use this when you want to hear individual words without reading whole sentences.

Readable Web Speak Line button icon
Speak Line

Speaks the single line of text under the mouse pointer. Useful for reading lists, headings, or short lines of content.

Readable Web Speak Block button icon
Speak Block

Speaks a block of text under the mouse pointer — generally a sentence or paragraph. This is the best setting for reading continuous web content.

Settings

Opens the Readable Web settings panel where you can choose your voice, adjust speed and pitch, and configure highlighting options. See Settings for full details.
