Readable Web is a free text-to-speech browser extension for Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Safari on macOS. It speaks any accessible web page text aloud using the text-to-speech voices available on your device or browser.
What Readable Web does
- Hover to speak — move your mouse over text and it is spoken automatically
- Select to speak — select any text on a web page with your mouse to hear it read aloud
- Underline highlighting — a moving underline shows the word or block being spoken as it plays
- Speak Word, Line, or Block — choose how much text is spoken when you hover
- Any voice — use voices installed on your device or high-quality browser voices
- Free to use — available at no cost from browser extension stores
